How to start blogging… well, isn’t this the 5,000,000 $ question?
Well, I have good and regular news for you. For starters, it’s easier than you think it is. And this is the good news. For the regular news, it does require some planning and setting up some goals. But I’m here to help you set realistic expectations to start and continue blogging, without getting overwhelmed or exhausted.
My goal today is to help you find the inspiration and motivation you need without feeling like this is an impossible task. It is not, trust me 🙂 I’m here to help you.
But sure, starting a blog can be an intimidating task, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or confused especially if you are not very technical, which you will be in no time.
Let’s go directly to the juicy details, shall we?

Here are some things to consider. Think of them as your to-do list.
1. Choose a topic that speaks to your heart! It sounds clichè but it’s true. Blogging requires dedication, so choose a subject that excites you so that you can stay motivated each time you start writing. There’s a niche for every interest, whether it’s food, travel, fashion, lifestyle, or personal development.
Truth bomb: The thing is, the majority of us want to start a blog in order to make money. Which is amazing. But making money from your blog is something that doesn’t happen overnight and it will take a lot of time, so it’s important to find a topic that you will not get tired of writing for months and months and months. That’s why everyone says you need to be passionate about it.
Because if you are not, waiting to make money from a topic that you are semi-enthusiastic about, will start to feel like a chore after a while. So until your blog becomes big, you need to have patience and also be enthusiastic about it, whenever you work on it. That’s why it’s important to pick a topic that speaks to your heart.
2. Define your target audience. Very important point as well. Who do you want to reach with your blog? Knowing your audience will help you create content that resonates with them and keeps them coming back for more. Think about their likes, dislikes, and interests. Is it moms? Millennia? Bachelors? Busy parents? Every audience has specific needs so take some time to identify your target group. You will need a different writing “voice” if you want to write for mothers, and a different set of blog posts, than, let’s say, if you are targeting bachelor readers.
3. Set realistic goals! Don’t pressure yourself to publish every day or grow your email list by 100 subscribers a week. Set achievable goals that push you to grow but aren’t impossible. Remember, blogging is a marathon, not a sprint. Even if you post once a month, if that’s all you can do, that’s perfectly okay. Setting a realistic goal will help you stay motivated and enthusiastic. If you say you need to publish every day, but it’s not a manageable goal, then after a while it will not feel as fun and blogging will start feeling like it’s a chore, and we don’t want that. Keep the enthusiasm going by staying realistic 🙂
4. Create a content strategy. A plan for creating and publishing content will keep you organized and focused while ensuring that your blog is consistently providing value to readers. It’s always easier to start writing if you have a plan of what to write about. It makes your blogging life easier so I would suggest taking a day, an afternoon, or whenever you can find some time, and make a content plan. What do you want to write and publish, and when (remember, keep it realistic). So, to make it simple, if you have a list of 10 blog subjects and you say I will write 1 article every 2 weeks, then every 2 weeks you know what needs to be done and you don’t have to spend time researching or figuring out what to write. A content strategy plan helps with productivity and efficiency. And it doesn’t have to be fancy. A simple notepad and a pen is perfectly fine!
5. Build your online presence! Creating a social media presence, networking with other bloggers, and engaging with your readers will help you reach a wider audience and build a community around your blog. That one is a big one. It might feel overwhelming unless you are a natural or you already have a good social media presence but it’s important to promote your blog as well.Â
6. Stay consistent and persistent! I know, it’s not sexy but consistency is key when it comes to blogging. Whether it’s publishing content on a regular schedule or engaging with your readers, staying consistent will help you build momentum and grow your blog. It’s also important to stay persistent, even when things get tough.
Starting a blog can be a fun and rewarding journey that allows you to share your passions and connect with others. Just remember to stay true to yourself and have fun along the way!
